When Only Cake Will Do

For some people, cake holds no temptation. They can leave parties having skipped the cake, they can wave away the dessert menu at a restaurant and have no real interest in office birthday cakes. Then … there are the rest of us!!

These days though, I don’t want to eat so much cake and I am much more selective about which cakes I make and choose to eat.  If you do enjoy the occasional piece of cake we would say, make sure you really savour and enjoy it and then let go of the guilt because, although we all know that eating cake isn’t really going to help you get the results you’re after on Wheyless, sometimes, there’s just nothing like a bit of cake to hit the spot!  

… and sometimes, on a chilly afternoon, a mug sized serve of warm cakey goodness reeaalllly hits the spot!  So, here are a few simple Mug Cake recipes yummy and filling enough to satisfy the cake craving and healthy enough to keep you on track: 

 

 

Double Choc Mug Cake

Double Choc Mug Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 scoop Double Choc Wheyless Protein Powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond meal
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup

Optional: 1 bar Wheyless Dark Choc with Probiotics

 

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients except the Wheyless Probiotic Chocolate, well in a microwave safe mug
  2. Microwave for 60 seconds on high 
  3. Cake should rise above the mug when ready.

Optional:  Chop up probiotic choc bar and sprinkle over the top.

Apple Spiced Mug Cake

Spiced Apple Mug Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons boiling water
  • ½ small green apple, diced
  • 1 tablespoon cashew butter
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Chai Wheyless protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond meal
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 egg

 

Method:

  1. Microwave diced apple and water for 60seconds on high in a microwave safe mug. 
  2. Drain water and allow apple to cool for 5 minutes
  3. Add the other ingredients to the apple and combine well
  4. Microwave on high for 60seconds or until mixture rises above the mug.

 

Enjoy!

 

 

Lemon Blueberry Banana Mug Cake

Lemon, Blueberry & Banana Mug Cake

Ingredients:

  • ½ small banana, mashed
  • ½ teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon almond meal
  • 1 egg
  • 1 scoop Banana Smoothie Wheyless Protein Powder
  • 1 heaped tablespoon frozen blueberries
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey

 

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients except blueberries in a microwave safe mug
  2. Fold through the blueberries
  3. Microwave on High for 60 seconds or until the mixture rises above the mug.
